I have some very concerned parents that wondered if we did not market the play good enough to the public-thus we did not have full houses for Charlie Brown. As noted The Independence Reporter did an article and a picture for us Thursday night of opening. Jill Koslosky took a cast photo Tuesday of tech and Lisa sent the story into the Coffeyville Journal on Wednesday (She also sent me what she sent to the Journal) I do not control what the Journal puts in the newspaper-I am very sorry they did not cover CCST-I just want to let you know the problem was not on our end. CCC has an excellent marketing department and we did all we could. I think those that are interested in voicing your concerns of no coverage of the children's play can call the Journal or e-mail them at Editor" Hope this helps clear up this matter-Thanks.

Great opening night! Once again you showed your audience what summer theatre is all about...determination, hard work, talent, and FUN!

Overall your costumes looked great. Just a reminder that ALL CHORUS MEMBERS and Woodstocks wear shirts tucked in at all times. Older cast members, please help with this.

Also, some of you are still wearing some jewelry. It is distracting and can be dangerous on stage, so please remember to remove all jewelry (including friendship bracelets) before each show.

Last minute hair and costume notes

Please read the notes for your character(s), and BE READY when you come to rehearsal Wednesday night and to each performance! (Parents, we suggest that you discuss these notes with your actors who are too young to read/understand them. Thank you.) Remember that you may not bring any food or drink, except water, to rehearsals or performances. It is important to protect your costumes from spills and stains.

Except for Sally and Lucy, there will not be anyone backstage to do your hair for you, so it is very important that you come to each dress rehearsal and performance with your hair already done according to these notes. Please be sure that your hair is secured (use gel, clips, hairpins, etc.) so that it will stay out of your face for the entire performance. Everyone should bring his/her own clips, hairpins, hairbrush or comb. PLEASE DO NOT SHARE THESE ITEMS!! IMPORTANT: Please be sure your name is on EVERYTHING that you bring to the theatre.

No one will wear any makeup other than what you ordinarily wear.

Male characters, please wear your hair the way you ordinarily do unless you have been instructed otherwise.

Female chorus characters with long enough hair should wear it out of your face and in pigtails, braids, or ponytails...no one should wear hair down. If your hair is short, just wear it the way you ordinarily do...just be sure it is out of your face. Also all female characters who are wearing the denim skirts MUST wear shorts or leggings under them, even if you are wearing colored tights. The skirts are very short, especially from the audience's view.

Woodstock and Bird Friends should have come home with a bag of yellow feathers and a note about hair. Please wear your hair in one or two high buns, and then stick the feathers in and around the bun(s). Woodstocks need to wear buns a little lower to allow for the Farmer McGregor hat. We will have extra yellow feathers available in the dressing rooms.

Every actor except Snoopy and Charlie Brown should be wearing black shoes. Please see prior costume notes if you have any questions about this.

It was VERY HOT in the Theatre today, but everyone looked great in their costumes on stage. Thanks to all actors and parents for participating in the important job of costuming the show.

Janelle Speer will be working tickets on Monday and will have a cast list to check your child's name off when you pick up your comp tickets.

-Parents who work the cast part and the box office will receive

-We are looking for someone to video tape the show Friday night. Tim Key of Key Lite Video is taping opening night but since we have some roles doubled-we need someone to video tape Friday night.

Dress rehearsals start next week, so let's get ready! Since all are called Thursday, please bring ALL COSTUME PIECES then. We will check them in before rehearsal. This means shoes, socks, shorts, etc.--anything that is requested for your character in the notes (The notes have been posted on this blog, and also sent home.) If you have already brought your costume pieces and we have checked them, you do not need to bring them again Thursday.

There has been some confusion about the colored shorts/leggings and socks for costumes. The girls (except for principles) are wearing matching skirts, so they need colored shorts or leggings to wear under them. They should all know by now what color shirt they will be wearing, so any shorts that don't clash with their shirt will work. We are trying to use a lot of color in the costumes, so it will be best if the shorts are long enough to actually show under the skirts.

The socks do not have to match either shirt or shorts, but again should not clash with either. Socks should be "bobby socks" style...over the ankle.

CHARLIE BROWN COSTUME INFORMATION

As in prior years, we will be providing some of the costume pieces. These items will be brought to a rehearsal to be fitted to the actors. Please note that all characters may not be listed here.

Please try to locate these items as soon as possible, and bring them to rehearsal by Monday, July 18, so that we may look at them.

EVERYONE will need a pair of black shoes. These are commonly flat ballet-style slippers, or any all-black flat shoe with a soft sole. No flip flops, please.

Please do not feel you must buy anything special, unless your child will get more use out of it after the play is over. Secondhand or thrift shops are gold mines for costume items, or try borrowing from friends! All costume pieces should be free of logos or other designs. If you have trouble locating any of these items, please let one of us know as soon as possible so that we will have time to help locate them for you. Please call if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks!

Don't forget the Cast Party at Sirloin Stockade following the final
performance tomorrow. Parents who volunteered to help(listed on the
orginal note & blog) please come to Sirloin's back room following the
show.

Those assigned hot dogs were to have brought them Saturday night. If you
forgot, please bring them with you at the noon call time on Sunday.
Because of the length of the show, the party will start and end later than
originally planned. Please pick up your child from Sirloin no later than
5:45 pm.

WEDNESDAY PHOTO NIGHT

Parents-

We move to the night life with Annie rehearsals tomorrow night-NO DAY REHEARSAL. Call is at 6pm and we will try to be done by 9:30pm-10pm We will start the show at 7pm. You are invited to come take pictures up close of your child tomorrow night or photos after the show. There are rules to PHOTO NIGHT:

1)This is not a night for you to invite your entire family to see the show. We only want ONE or two parents to take pictures. Last summer we had families of ten coming to watch and that's not what this night is for. It's for you to take photo's.

2)Please do not take any pictures from 6-7pm or before we start-The kids have a ritual schedule to get ready-warm up and run scenes before we begin. You can take pictures AFTER the show but remember not too long because it will be late and we ALL want to go home.

3)Please do not call out your child's name during the run-thru-They will be performing the show tomorrow night as IF it's opening-Please do not distract by calling their name. The photo's alone is distracting.

4) No photos during the actual performance of the show (THURS-SUN) will be allowed. Tomorrow night is your night for Photo's. Only Jill Koslosky is permitted since she is hosting SMUG MUG PHOTOS FOR CCST

5)Feel free to take pictures close up just don't jump on the stage during the performance.

COSTUME, HAIR, AND MAKEUP NOTES FOR TECH WEEK

DRESS REHEARSALS START MONDAY!

Please read the notes for your character(s), and BE READY when you come to rehearsal! (Parents, we suggest that you discuss these notes with your actors who are too young to read/understand them. Thank you.)

Remember, starting Monday you may not bring any food or drink, except water, to rehearsals. It is important to protect your costumes from spills and stains.

There will not be anyone backstage to do your hair for you, so it is very important that you come to each dress rehearsal and performance with your hair already done according to these notes. (Though we have had some generous offers from parents to help with hair and makeup, we just simply do not have enough backstage space or time for that luxury. Thanks to all who have offered! )

Please be sure that your hair is secured (use gel, clips, hairpins, etc.) so that it will stay out of your face for the entire performance. Everyone should bring his/her own clips, hairpins, hairbrush or comb. PLEASE DO NOT SHARE THESE ITEMS!!

IMPORTANT: Please be sure your name is on EVERYTHING that you bring to the theatre.

If your character is not listed, that means that you should wear your hair the way you always do, or according to special instructions you have already received. Unless noted otherwise, no one will wear any makeup other than what you ordinarily wear.

ORPHANS (Dancing and Non-Dancing): Please come dressed in your costume shorts and socks, with any shirt. Hair should be in a style that will allow you to easily change shirts. Suggestions: low pigtails or braids; half up; hair down with one or two small pigtails. You will have “rag ribbons” in the dressing room to put in your hair for your orphan costume. When you change into your party clothes, you will need to remove the rag ribbons. If you have bows or a headband that you would like to use for the party scene, be sure to bring it with you. The older girls will be able to help the younger ones change clothes and get hair changed for the party scene. Please bring your own hairbrush or comb, clearly marked with your name. BE SURE TO BRING YOUR PARTY DRESS ON MONDAY—you will leave it in the dressing room the rest of the week.

WYATT AND MALE SERVANTS: Please come dressed in your dress pants and white shirt. You will add your other pieces in the dressing rooms as needed. (Ryan and Craig, you may wear a t-shirt if you wish since you have a scene before you change into butlers.)

FEMALE SERVANTS (with no other part): Please come dressed in your black t-shirt and black shorts. You will add the rest of your costume in the dressing rooms. As announced at Thursday’s rehearsal, you DO NEED a pair of black shorts to wear under your skirt, as the skirts are fairly short. This was omitted from the original costume list, so hopefully it is not a problem—most of you probably own a pair of black shorts! You will be wearing specific hats, so if you have long hair, please come to rehearsal with it done in a low back bun.

STREET BOYS: Please come dressed in the shirts and pants that we have cut up and returned to you. You have hats assigned to you in your dressing room.

LYDIA AND ASSISTANTS: If your hair is long enough, please come with it done in a back bun, either high or low. If your hair is too short for a bun, it needs to be in a professional-looking style, out of your face. Lydia, your hair needs to be a low bun since you wear a hat when you are Ward.

EVERYONE ELSE: Please come dressed in street clothes.

Annie Cast Party Information

The traditional cast party will be held on Sunday, August 1, from 4:00 — 5:15 pm in the banquet room of Sirloin Stockade. We will be serving a light supper along with celebrating a job well done by all.

Every cast and crew member is invited to this celebration. Due to the large number in the cast, we ask that only cast/crew members attend the party (no parents, siblings, etc. please).

Next Week - ALL called, Monday thru Thursday, 1pm-4pm.

Sponsor Ads are due next Wednesday. Each child is responsible for getting 2 sponsor ads. Any child who doesn't turn in 2 sponsor ads will be responsible for a $40 donation to the show. Without sponsor ads children's summer theatre wouldn't be possible, so make sure you get your ads. Thank you to those who have turned their ads in so promptly.

Tickets will be on sale for Parents beginning Tuesday from 1 to 4. Each child will receive two complimentary tickets to the show. We plan to sell out of the show each night, so make sure to get your tickets as soon as possible. Tickets will be $3 for Children, $6 for adults, and $8 for center section. We will accept cash and checks ONLY, no credit cards. We will not be reserving tickets this year. ALL tickets must be paid for up front.

As in the past years, we will be having Picture Night the Wednesday of tech week. You can go ahead and mark your calendars for that. Details will be posted.

Do you want a DVD of your child's performance? Send a blank DVD with their name and address to rehearsal and we will make sure they receive a copy of the show. DVD's can be turned into Sarah.

ANNIE COSTUME INFORMATION

As in prior years, we will be providing most of the costumes. These items will be brought to a rehearsal to be fitted to the actors. Please note that all characters may not be listed here.

Please try to locate these items as soon as possible, and bring them to rehearsal by Monday, July 19, so that we may look at them.

EVERYONE will need a pair of black shoes. These are commonly flat ballet-style slippers, or any all-black flat shoe with a soft sole. No flip flops, please.

Please do not feel you must buy anything special, unless your child will get more use out of it after the play is over. Secondhand or thrift shops are gold mines for costume items, or try borrowing from friends! All costume pieces should be free of logos or other designs. If you have trouble locating any of these items, please let one of us know as soon as possible so that we will have time to help locate them for you. Please call if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks!

Annie and orphans (dancing and non-dancing): A nice dress (does not have to be fancy, just something you would wear to a party or church--the scene is at Christmas, so if you have a Christmas dress that fits, that would be a first choice!); light colored shorts to wear under costume (not too bulky); white anklet socks

Mr. Bundles/Judge/Roosevelt/Bert Healy: White men’s dress shirt, black slacks, black socks. Wyatt, you were going to try to find a pair of coveralls for Mr. Bundles…have you found any yet?

NYC Stars: A skirt and blouse (nothing too trendy, please)

Servants (Mrs. Pugh; Mrs. Greer, Cecille), and all maids: Black short-sleeved t-shirt that fits you (not too big, please)

CCC Theatre Camp To Presents Disney Aristocats-Registration Now Open!

Coffeyville Community College Theatre along with support from The Junior Advisory Counsel and the Coffeyville Community Area Foundation will present the 5th annual Theatre Camp June 14-25th. This years production is Disney's The Aristocats Kids which will be performed on June 25th at 4:30pm. The cost of the camp is $25 which includes a free Theatre Camp t-shirt. The camp is open to children ages 6-17 years of age. The camp runs from 1-4pm and consists of rehearsals for the play. Auditions for the 16th annual Coffeyville Children's Summer Theatre musical, Annie will be June 26th from 1-4pm and performances will be July 29-30-31 at 7:30pm and August 1st at 2pm. Auditions and Theatre Camp are open to anyone in Montgomery County or surrounding areas. When the performance is over Sunday, please leave ALL COSTUME PIECES THAT DO NOT BELONG TO YOU in your assigned dressing room, on the chair or table where your name is.

Be sure to take everything that belongs to you home with you. If you have a pair of shorts or pants that belongs to you and has a tail sewn on it, you may keep the tail. We do not need those back.

Be sure to bring clothes to wear home tomorrow if you have been wearing costume pieces that do not belong to you back and forth from the theatre.

Great show tonight...let's get ready for our best one yet to finish our Jungle Book experience!

Friday Night Performance

NOTES
First of all I would like to congratulate Jenna Speer who had an outstanding performance tonight as you ALL did. Jenna who stepped in for Breck tonight as the village girl did an amazing job and we are so proud of her!
-The fight scene is STILL too loud-We must hear the dialogue
-Cast don't let the audience who were rather quiet tonight affect your energy-Keep the energy up even if the audience does NOT react.

BACKSTAGE PROBLEMS
We had a lot of problems backstage tonight that we will address when we circle up for Saturday nights show: Here are some of the problems we will talk about.

-The vultures (Paige/Lydia/Tanna/Ashley/Raisa)are backstage before the show when they are supposed to be in the monkey room. (Raisa needs to be backstage since she is a wolf) When Sarah told the vultures to go to the monkey room they ignored Sarah. Also ignored her when she found two of them in the bathroom (Tanna/Ashley)
Please remember two things, Sarah and Rebecca are in charge backstage and they should receive the same respect I do or Lynn, Alicia or Chris. Also the older kids NEED to be in the monkey room to help with the younger kids. Lynn mention how great this was Wednesday night but now all the older kids hang backstage and have ignored the monkey room. No cell phones should be used backstage to text or send pictures. Cell phones need to be put away. If we see them we will take them until after the show.

-The snakes. Mariah tells me there is in-fighting between the snakes (Katie/Emma/Bailey) This needs to stop because its causing drama in the monkey room and backstage. You all need to listen to Mariah. Lets discuss what is going on with you three tomorrow night so we can solve the problems.)

Older kids-stop eating candy in costume-your supposed to be the example for the younger kids backstage.

-We do not need people to be out in the hallway during intermission. Raisa and Heather were surrounded by their friends talking to them during intermission. Now in your defense they could of caught you while you were going backstage but simply tell them you can't talk until after the show.

I will be backstage tomorrow night. I will bring a movie for kids to watch in the monkey room. There are too many people becoming bosses in the monkey room that have no business telling people what to do. No more games-this caused problems and noise. Only a movie and I will bring a new one in for you all to watch.

Sarah will put your name on the door of the room you should be in during the show. You all need to stay out of the hallway and stay away from backstage unless your getting ready to go onstage. You all need to respect Rebecca and Sarah and listen to them. Chris will be helping backstage to make sure the correct people are backstage.

We cannot self destruct backstage. The reason our show was low in energy because we had so much wasted energy backstage and too many problems.

We will discuss this further when we circle up at 6:30 tomorrow night.

Just a quick note to THANK all those who have so willingly volunteered to help backstage with hair. However, the cast and parents have done an awesome job with hair--having it properly done before arrival at the theatre. Thanks to everyone's cooperation, we have not needed any additional help; but we do appreciate your willingness to help out.

Opening Night!

There will be lots of excitement backstage tonight. Some cast members may be bringing small gifts for each other, including candy.

Parents, please talk to your children about this and remind them that they are NOT to eat anything, no matter how tempting the candy looks. Please ask them to wait until they are out of their costumes, and out of the theatre, before eating anything. The reasons are twofold: It eliminates a problem with trash all over the dressing rooms, and protects the costumes from stains.

Again, we are asking the older cast members to set good examples, and help enforce this rule.

Dress Rehearsals

We begin dress rehearsals on Monday. Please look at previous posts to find out where your dressing room will be.

If you are in the Monkey Room, you have a chair with your name on it; and if you have small costume pieces they will be on the chair. Please do NOT move your chairs or names around. We have tried to mix the older girls with the younger ones to help maintain some order during the times you have to be in there. Also we expect the older girls to help the youngers ones with their costumes, bathroom, etc. Most of you older girls have been considered the younger ones in past productions, so you know how important this is in having a successful show!

If you have a pair of pants that has a tail sewn on it, please WEAR OR BRING THEM to rehearsal on Monday. If you choose to wear them, be sure you have another pair of pants to wear home because you will be leaving them in your dressing room the rest of the week. As well, you need to bring any other costume pieces that you have been assigned.

Please be sure that everything is clearly marked with your name. The dressing rooms can get very chaotic, and it is easy to lose things. It is a good idea to bring a small bag or tote (with your name on it!) to keep your possessions together in the dressing rooms.

Just a reminder that everyone needs to come to rehearsals and shows with hair done according to prior blog notes. We do not have anyone to do hair for this production.

HAIR NOTES
Following are some specific notes about how to wear your hair for dress rehearsals and performances. There will not be anyone backstage to do your hair for you, so it is very important that you come to each dress rehearsal and performance with your hair already done according to these notes.

Please be sure that your hair is secured (use gel, clips, hairpins, etc.) so that it will stay out of your face for the entire performance.

If your character is not listed, that means that you should just wear your hair the way you always do, or according to special instructions you have already received.

Girl (Breck/Jenna): Wear hair down, pulled back away from face

Elephants and Monkeys: You have a hat to wear.
Girls—long hair in low bun, short hair pulled out of face
Boys—hair pulled out of face

Vultures: Long hair in low ponytail (not a bun); short hair pulled out of face

Snakes: We will send home a bag of four plastic snakes for each girl. Please work into hair—any “updo” will be fine.

Bees (Morgen & Bella) / Leopards (Megan & Jenna) / Tiger (Heidi): Two high buns

Leopard (Kennedy)/ Birds (Catherine and Ainsley): One low bun

The following cast members need to bring their costume pieces ASAP. All costumes MUST be complete by Monday, the first day of dress rehearsals. No one will be allowed on stage after this week without a complete costume. As monkeys and elephants need to leave their pants with Lynn, Alicia, or Rebecca to get a tail sewn on, it is important to have those costumes quickly so that they will be ready by Monday's rehearsal.

There has been some concern about finding appropriate black shoes. Besides the ballet-style slippers, other options are black crocs (with the strap worn across the back of the foot!), black water shoes, Mary Janes, or plain black sneakers would be fine. Basically you are looking for inexpensive all-black shoes with soft soles. No flip-flops please.
